The former footballer, 47, looked emotional on Friday as he moved past Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin as he paid his respects after queuing for 13 hours.

As the former England captain and singer dressed for the special occasion, they were filmed for their show which aired 20 years ago.

David shook hands with the late monarch when he was made an OBE by the Queen in 2003 for services to football.

Victoria and two of the couple’s sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, as well as David’s grandparents, were on hand to see him accept the honour.

David told the cameras: “It’s quite amazing actually because you hear about all the other OBEs over the years and one of them was Bobby Charlton and he was my idol and my dad’s idol.”

“To hear I received one of them,” he began. “It only hit me when I got a letter that said David Beckham OBE on it. It is fantastic.

“I was going to bring my mum and dad, I know they would appreciate it, but I think my nanny and my grandad, it’s going to be an amazing experience for them. My child is a big royal fan so it’s nice for them.’

He went on to recall his previous meeting with Her Majesty: “I met the Queen at the Commonwealth Games when I opened it in Manchester. She was gorgeous.

Victoria then gushed over her husband: “You look so fine; you look so handsome. I reckon you’ll get the queen going, you know.

She continued: ‘We’re going to the palace and David is going to collect his OBE and we’re very proud of him.’

“I’m looking forward to it,” David added as Victoria continued: “David’s children and grandfather are very excited.”

“It’s going to be a very nice day. And then we’ll have lunch afterwards. I can’t believe you’re going to be David Beckham OBE.’

“I know,” David laughed before Victoria joked, “I can’t believe you beat me to it!”

The father-of-four finally reached the Queen’s coffin at around 3.30pm after standing up, taking just a few seconds to bow his head before moving on to make way for the people behind him.

And the stark contrast in Friday’s plans comes as rumored tensions between Brooklyn’s family and his wife grow – with recent reports claiming his parents are “devastated”.

In 2014, David was on the verge of becoming a Sir in the New Year’s Honors list until a “red flag” warning from HM Revenue and Customs dropped his nomination.

The former footballer was one of dozens of wealthy celebrities who invested in the controversial Ingenious Media scheme to finance films and reduce investors’ personal tax liability. HMRC labeled the scheme a tax avoidance vehicle.

But a source has now told the publication: ‘David, like many of the celebrities involved in Ingenious, had no knowledge of what was going on at the time.

“His team first proactively approached HMRC almost two years ago when David made his business independent and then finally got it all settled, once and for all, this year.”

They continued: “In 2013 David was told that the only reason he was being overlooked for a knighthood was because of the tax fiasco. Now that it is clear, there is absolutely no reason why he should not be honored.

“He would obviously be absolutely delighted with a knighthood – but is under no illusions and will only believe it when he sees it.”
